Resources

Here you can find all sorts of code snippets and guides that I often use in the process of designing and developing websites. These are often works in progress, and any feedback or contributions are welcome. Feel free to use any of the tips, advice and guidance I offer - but remember you do so at your own risk, I cannot be held responsible for anything... ever.

Linux

I use Linux for all of my servers. Whilst I maintain that Linux is still not ready for mainstream desktop use, it is very popular for server use. Unlike Windows Server and Apple XServe, Linux is free (libre & gratis) and that makes sense to me.

  • Small Ubuntu Install An installation of Ubuntu (9.04) that includes only the minimal applications. For desktop or servers.

Podcast List

I find that podcasts are a great way of staying on top of the latest website design and technology news. Here are a few of the podcasts I am currently listening to.

  • Boagworld An excellent commentary on everything web design related.
  • Rissington Podcast A half-hearted attempt at a web design podcast, very funny though.
  • The Command Line Podcast General programming podcast, more technical than those above.
  • Security Now A real technical workout. This is by far my most favorite podcast.
  • LugRadio They have ceased broadcasting, but will forever remain in my feed catcher...in the hope that it all kicks of again. If you like Linux and have not heard of LugRadio I suggest you download one of these episodes immediately. These are very funny guys.
